Hi, my name is Debbie.
I have known Cathy for 10 years and during this time have seen the fantastic
benefits parents and babies have gained from using Cathy’s uniquely designed
baby carrying sling, “Slingalong”.
It is one of the most practical, easy to use, versatile baby carriers I have
seen and is a parenting aid I wished I had when my daughter was young. After
birthing Amber naturally at home, I was desperately looking for a suitable baby
sling to continue the close bonding I’d established after her birth. The “Slingalong” baby
carrier was what I needed but was still being designed.
I am pleased to be able to maintain the “Slingalong” business
now that Cathy has gone back into full-time nursing and
continue to provide parents and babies support with this
wonderful parenting aid and baby carrying sling
Some words from Cathie:
My name is Cathie; registered
nurse, full-time mother of three. After the birth of
my first child Max I was introduced to side
slings when I was involved with the wonderful
Family Nurturing Centre at Swanbourne WA, who gave
me so much support for a natural birth, attachment
parenting, and long term breast feeding.
After trying many other baby
carriers, I found the sling to be the easy, quick,
and with many versatile positions….and I could
breast feed in it!
After the birth of my second child Lewis we moved to
Byron Shire. I had so many enquiries that I thought
I would make and design my own sling. After using them
for two children I felt there were aspects of the design
I could update and improve to suit the Australian conditions.
I streamlined the sling to make it less bulky and cooler
fabrics and mesh for hot climates. I added the buckle
for easy adjustment when wearing (especially helpful
for breastfeeding mums!!), easy release buckle - so
when putting baby down not to wake them by lifting them
out, and put thick wadding in the edges for babies comfort.
After the birth of my third child Cherry. I feel
I have designed a sling that is a great parenting aide
for busy parents (contented babies, happy parents!)
