Wearing Your Baby Sling
Important safety points
The Slingalong™ baby carrying sling is a
parenting aid and must be used with care at all times by an
adult.
- One arm should always be around baby for comfort and safety
- When adjusting allow at least 10cm to the end of the strap
- Carries babies up to 14kg
- Buckle must be flat on chest/back to ensure grip
- Check regularly for wear and tear
Practice using the sling before you put your infant in for
the first time. Get used to putting the Slingalong on and
off, and shortening and lengthening the sling. Use a doll
for the "right feel."
Above all, relax! This is not a test of your parenthood.
Babies feel more secure when movement is taking place. As
soon as your infant is in the sling, start moving and talking.
The more comfortable you are, the happier baby will be.
If baby looks uncomfortable, don't be afraid to simply "lift"
him into a more natural position. It is recommended to keep
your arms under the sling and baby until you feel more secure
with it.
If baby fusses when you first put him/her in the sling, and
he's in it properly, you might try again later when you are
both in a relaxed mood. Remember, a baby may cry the first
time he is placed in a bath tub, but as he becomes used to
it, he learns to love it!
